'Leave Your Coffee Behind' And Trade Up For Off-Road Racing Adventure

The average guy may require a quick shot of java just to get him up in the morning. but if you're like Reno Gazette Journal reporter Dan Hinxman (@DanHinxmanRGJ), you may want to leave your triple shot cup of Starbucks coffee to its mundane manner of life, meandering through the monotony of rush hour traffic in an over-sized SUV.

Because if you're like Hinxman, it's time to trade up to the thrill, speed and off-road racing adventure of a SuperLite Championship truck. It's about Arrive & Drive. Show up. Strap in. And fly through the whoops and over the jumps with a triple shot of adrenaline.

We hooked up with Hinxman earlier today as we count down the days to next weekends 2010 Octane Fest and the SuperLite Invitational Race of legends. He strapped into the right seat of a SuperLite Championship Truck caught a glimpse of what the SuperLite Championship Arrive & Drive Truck is all about.

Just what is the SuperLite Invitational all about? Well, it's like cage fighting for off-road race trucks. The lineup is impressive. Motorsports and extreme sports legends throwdown behind the well of SuperLite trucks in the midst of a bull ring. Icons like Jeff Ward, Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Johnson, Carl Renezeder, John Harrah, Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg and Brian Deegan will battle it out, and we'll carry it live at SuperLiteLive.com for the duration of the 2010 Octane Fest from June 10-13.

Dan Hinxman: Leave your coffee behind for this off-road racing adventure

An employee for Speed Technologies helped me with my five-point harness system and my helmet. Then he told me to hold on to the harness straps because you don't want your arms flailing around in a rollover.

And it was at that moment that I wished I knew more about my pilot, Chuck Dempsey.

"Got any suicidal tendencies?" I asked him.

Without an ounce of humor -- at least none visible in the tiny window of his helmet -- he simply said, "Nope."

Should you ever get a chance to ride in a SuperLite off-road racing vehicle, here's a couple things to know:

One, leave your Human Bean coffee behind. Even with its patented Solo Traveler Plus lid (the one that covers the cup completely and has a slider), you stand no chance of getting a sip before you shove the entire 20-ounce cup up your right nostril. Thankfully, I realized that before I crawled into the capsule.
